A new life in Australia has huge appeal for a young family from Crawley. Doubts arise concerning their budgeting. They spend a week in Perth finding out what it would be like to live there.

3. Hayward

The Hayward family from Hampshire are split. Mum and younger daughter want to emigrate to New Zealand, whereas Dad and older daughter don't. A week down under, in Christchurch, might be enough to force a decision.

4. Turner

Vet Matthew Turner is looking for a better work/life balance, but is unsure whether a future in New Zealand could offer this. His wife and children are prepared to give it a try, but their week sampling their lifestyle in Auckland throws up more dilemmas than they had bargained for.

Voted the world's most liveable city in a recent survey, Melbourne is the destination of choice for many British migrants. Will the Martin family from North Wales decide it offers them a better lifestyle? And will Ian and wife Joanna find the right jobs to persuade them to make the life-changing move?

6. Mustafa

A new life in the sun in Perth, Western Australia, is appealing to the Mustafa family from Surrey, except for teenager Chanelle, who does not want to go. The family tries out the lifestyle down under for one week before deciding whether to emigrate or not.

With life constantly on the move in the army, the May family are considering a more settled future in New Zealand. But when the roles are reversed, with Leaze returning to work as a teacher and Neil becoming an art student, the reality proves to be tougher than they thought.

The King family from Cardiff think New Zealand might be the best place to bring up their three young boys. They are amazed at the stylish dream homes they could afford in Art Deco Napier, but as Helen tries teaching Maori children and the boys attempt rugby and the Hakka, they find the local culture hard to embrace, and even dad Jamie has his doubts.

With property prices and the cost of living higher than she expected, the reality of making ends meet on her nurse's salary might give her second thoughts.

When Bob and Sonia Greaves put the Australian beach lifestyle to the test in tropical Cairns, reality does not live up to expectations. While naturopath Sonia is drawn to a new life abroad, retired husband Bob will need persuading.

The Hannah family from Nottinghamshire think a fresh start in New Zealand could answer their problems. Joe believes work would be less stressful and he'd have more time with his family. Wife Emma hopes for a spacious rural property to bring up their children. But the houses disappoint and Emily doesn't want to leave her school, so important decisions have to be made.
