About Canada's Worst Driver

Canada's Worst Driver is a reality and comedy TV series that premiered on Discovery on September 26, 2005. It has 14 seasons and 113 episodes so far and has ended. The latest episode, Season 14 Episode 8 "The Final Three", aired on December 17, 2018.

Canada's Worst Driver is a Canadian television series on Discovery Channel, based on Britain's Worst Driver, and is part of the Worst Driver television franchise. It and sister series Canada's Worst Handyman are the two highest-rated programs on Discovery Channel. The series is produced by Proper Television, whose president, Guy O'Sullivan, was the director for the original Britain's Worst Driver series; as such, Canada's Worst Driver is considered to be the production company's flagship show. Unlike other Worst series around the world, the Canadian version emphasizes the learning process of the contestants and the science of driving, and as such is often more serious than the other Worst shows around the world, which are mainly played for laughs. It is the longest running of any Worst series to date. The series is also aired dubbed in French in Canada, as the Les zéros de conduite on Canal D.

Over the course of several weeks, the contestants take on challenges designed to improve their driving skills. Starting with the second episode and at the end of each subsequent episode thereafter, the most improved driver, as determined by host Andrew Younghusband and a panel of judges, may choose to graduate a contestant, in which case the contestant is no longer considered to be in the running for Canada's Worst Driver. This continues until three contestants remain, where one final challenge will determine who among them is Canada's Worst Driver. Unlike the previous season, which focused on winter driving conditions, this season focuses on summer driving skills. Season 4

2008 · 8 episodes · Last episode: 17 years ago

Canada's Worst Driver 4 is the fourth season of Canada's Worst Driver, a Discovery Channel Canada television series which seeks to improve the driving of eight nominated contestants, each of which trying to avoid being named Canada's Worst Driver. Like previous series, each contestant is nominated by a loved one, and are taken to the Driver Rehabilitation Centre, located this year at an abandoned correctional facility in Guelph, Ontario. At the rehabilitation centre, each contestant is taught key driving skills, and are tested in various challenges, with three challenges to an episode. Before each challenge, host Andrew Younghusband performs each challenge to demonstrate that they are doable without error by an average driver. The first episode, where the contestants must drive to the Driver Rehabilitation Centre from a location an hour's drive away in the traditional first challenge, serves as a skills evaluation. Starting with the second episode, and at the end of every episode thereafter, the experts and Andrew decide on which of the remaining contestants have been sufficiently rehabilitated to be let go onto public roads. This continues until three contestants remain, where two traditional final challenges determine who is named Canada's Worst Driver. Though normally one contestant leaves in every episode, the experts may, at their discretion, refuse to allow anyone to graduate, or conversely graduate more than one contestant in an episode. In extreme circumstances, the experts may also choose to expel a contestant with no intention of improving their driving skills. This year, like the previous season, roughly half of the challenges are new to the series, while the other half, such as the initial drive to the Driver Rehabilitation Centre, the Eye of the Needle, the Water-Tank Challenge, the Mega-Challenge, and the series-ending road test, are returning from previous seasons. However, the challenges this season are more specifically tuned for the individual contestants than in previous years, to better address driving issues specific to each contestant. For this year, a fleet of brand-new luxury cars have been commissioned for some of the challenges.

Season 5

2009 · 8 episodes · Last episode: 16 years ago

Canada's Worst Driver 5 is the fifth season of Canada's Worst Driver, the Canadian automotive television series on Discovery Channel which seeks to improve the skills of eight of the worst motorists in Canada. In this season, the eight contestants are taken to the Driver Rehabilitation Centre in CFB Borden, which had been previously used in Canada's Worst Driver 2. Unlike Canada's Worst Driver 2, however, it is only referred to on-air as an "undisclosed military location". The series launch was set to coincide with the launch of a new law in Ontario prohibiting the use of handheld electronic devices while driving. Similar bans have been instituted in Atlantic Canada and Quebec, with Manitoba and Saskatchewan considering similar laws. This season will also be the second to be featured on the iTunes Store and the first to have new episodes one day after first airing.

Their mission: to find their way back to their hotel in our Night Time Navigational Challenge. 8. Icing on the Cake...

    Finale

This final episode of crashes, crunches and outright destruction determines who's unfit to get their car keys back; one unlucky driver is named Canada's Worst Driver.

  2. E7

    7. Slip and Slide

With Mariah Carriere being named the latest graduate, there are four nominees left in the running to be named Canada's Worst Driver. Their first challenge is to do a straight reverse one kilometer in length, the longest reversing challenge ever on the show. There are several sections, the side barriers made of different materials and the lane being differing widths throughout the course. The nominees are told that it is a race, that they are to complete the course as fast as they can. Most do not however realize that success still entails not hitting anything. Tim holds himself ...

  3. E6

    6. Know Your Limits

With the panel deciding not to graduate anyone at the last graduation ceremony based on the nominees' own wants, there are still five left at the Centre. As it is one of the most destructive and frightening activities for the nominees as a collective in their everyday driving, parking in a crowded parking lot is their first challenge. They must obey all standard rules, one nominee who is totally oblivious to legalities of property damage in parking lots. They must park into any available legal space in one go, in each case backing up, a penalty incurred if the parking...

  4. E5

    5. 1 - 2 - 3 - Go!

There are five nominees left at the Centre with the graduation of George Firth. Before the next set of challenges, Andrew tries to impress on the five the importance of proper seating behind the wheel and the negative consequences of not doing so if/when an air bag is deployed. The first challenge for the five is to do a three point turn in a school bus in an enclosure. This task may be difficult for some who either do not grasp the concept or who do not even know what a three point turn is. The second and third challenges require Philippe to teach them the associated and related...

  5. E4

    4. Piece of Cake

With Santana Pike being named the second graduate, six nominees remain at the Centre. The nominees' first challenge is to test if they know how fast they are driving by covering their speedometer. They are required to drive at both 50kph and 70kph, the latter which also entails them hitting on their brakes at a given point to avoid hitting a wall, which they should be able to do if they are indeed driving at the requested speed. Their second challenge is the annual water tank challenge, which includes a straightaway acceleration and deceleration section, a forward precision ...

  6. E3

    3. What Just Happened?

With Ian Brannan being named perhaps surprisingly the first graduate of the season - he being so named because he recognized the bad driving choices he was making - there are seven nominees left at the Drivers' Rehabilitation Centre. The panel believes the distracted driving demonstration is more important now than ever with cell phone use causing driving accidents being on the rise. Four of the remaining nominees are addicted to their cell phone while driving, another who would use it if his passengers would allow it, and another whose distraction is eating and drinking while ...

And now, for Season 10, CANADA’S WORST DRIVER contends with the most rampant challenge on the roads today: Distracted driving.
