Emmerdale

Matt finds an unconscious Sam in the cowshed and rushes him to hospital. Meanwhile, Frank and Janie have a great first date, and even have their first kiss.

Jack changes his mind and invites his friend Bart to Emmerdale Farm. Frank warms to Janie and asks her out, and Marian is unwelcoming to Joe.

Jack has decided to return to London. Janie asks Frank on a date but ends up going out with Joe. However, it doesn't last long when he begins going on about Marian.

Peggy and Matt discover they will have twins, whilst PC Ball prosecutes Jack and Joe. Janie flirts with Frank but he doesn't reciprocate.

The police find the Sugdens Land Rover. Norman proposes to Marian but gets turned down. Meanwhile, Peggy disowns Jack, Marian ends her affair with him and Annie tells him he has two weeks to decide if he wants to stay or go.

Joe tells Marian that Jack is still married, whilst Henry tells Jack to stay away from Marian.

Jack makes an enemy in Janie after embarrassing her in front of his family. Meanwhile, Henry is knocked unconscious after having a fall, and is later found by Marion and Norman.

Henry is home from hospital. Jack buys a new van for Matt and Peggy. Annie realizes Jack has more money than he is letting on. PC Ball is back to tell Joe that his insurance has expired. Janie visits Joe.

Tom starts throwing threats about Jack being the real father of Tom's son Jackie. Ruth begs Jack to sack him. Marian breaks off with Jack, then he sacks Tom. Ruth has packed up, and asks Tom if he is coming with her to her sisters to live.

Matt tells Peggy that he did not get the job and she goes after Jack for money. Matt tells Jack that Tom is lazy. Tom gets Ruth to go to the Woolpack because he wants to bump into Jack. He shows him pictures of his eldest son also named Jack. PC Ball questions both Joe and Henry in the hospital.

Matt has his interview today. Ruth goes to see Jack and realizes that there is nothing between them. Joe has woken up and is in bad shape, While Wilkes has a compound fracture in his leg. Tom starts work at the farm and is not pulling his weight.

Tom tells Ruth about a car accident between Henry and Joe. Tom asks Jack for a job. PC Ball asks Amos if Joe had been at the Woolpack drinking before the accident.

Peggy is still trying to convince Matt that they must get away from the farm, and Joe has hinted that he may leave, too. Jack has had a phone call to go at once to The Feathers Hotel.

Jack meets Wilks to sort out the right of way issue. Meanwhile, having discovered that Jack intends meeting Lynn at The Feathers Country Hotel, Joe Sugden has tried to arrange for Marian to be there at the same time.

Amos has told Joe how Jack and Marian were seen coming out of the barn; Peggy is convinced that Matt is the only man doing a full day's work on the Sugden farm and Annie has found that Joe has been borrowing money from several people.

A friend has arrived out of the blue at the Sugden farm, but Jack has mysteriously chosen not to introduce him to his family. Matt has heard how his rod was broken on Joe's fishing expedition.

Jack is planning to restore and live in the old mill-house. Marian Wilks finds out how Jack had once been very friendly with Ruth Merrick.

Jack meets Wilks and Peters over the right-of-way. Joe takes Marian fishing and Peggy wants to leave the farm to raise her child.

Wilks consults his solicitor, about claiming a right-of-way over the Sugden land. Annie suspects Peggy is pregnant and Joe befriends Marian, who also shows an interest in Jack.

Jack Sugden has come home for his father's funeral after a 9 year absence. The rest of the family resent him because his father left him the farm. New neighbours Marian Wilks and her newly retired father Henry, want to build a road through the Sugden farm. Jack has taken a shine to Marian, but has concerns about her father's acid company.

Frank is asked to apply for a teaching job in Essex, whilst Alison is offended by George's remarks. Janie is forced to tell Joe that Carol isn't coming back.

It's Christmas in Beckindale, and Jack has given his family a deep freezer. Meanwhile, the nativity play in the church doesn't go plan for Edward.

Annie pops out and leaves Sam in charge of her Christmas puddings. He gets whisked off by Joe to tend to a bull. Janie and Frank fall out over where to spend Christmas when she wants to go to her mother's. Annie's annoyed to arrive back to find the puddings have boiled dry. Reverend Ruskin asks Joe if he can borrow a sheep for the church nativity play. Henry ponders whether to install a new fireplace in

Edward is unhappy with Amos when Amos decides to be difficult with him. The Sugdens meet with Willy.

Frank worries about the dangerous electrics inside St. Mary's Church, and warns Edward that they need to be fixed.

George and Laura continuously row over Laura's return. Beattie has a vivid nightmare about Sam and realises the twins should be at Emmerdale Farm.

Janie is annoyed when Frank offers to do work for free for Edward. Henry decides to hire a barmaid for The Woolpack.

Gold digging Laura is not happy to discover George has decided to leave his money to Mark. Joe and Henry clash, and Annie asks Henry to go easier on Joe.

George is shocked when Laura turns up, and the Sugdens are angry when Henry prioritises The Woolpack over the farm.

Janie and Frank finally settle their differences, whilst Annie is upset when Matt decides the twins would be better off with Ben and Beattie.

The prowler in Alison's shop turns out to be Charlie's dog. Henry warns Sam that he has an unlicensed coin in his possession, and could be fined.

Janie confides in Alison that she has fallen out of love with Frank. Alison discovers a prowler in her shop.

Henry is worried about Amos's thoughts on his partnership with him, and the other with Alison. A woman from the Milk Marketing Board visits the Sugdens.

Janie and Frank hit a rough spot in their relationship, whilst Henry and Amos agree to go into partnership of The Woolpack.

As Annie is unable to use her wrist, Beattie is forced to do the housework. Henry offers to buy a share of The Woolpack.

Beattie guilt trips Sam into allowing her to keep seeing the twins. Annie has a fall and injures her wrist.

Amos returns to the village following his brother's death. Annie and Beattie clash, and Sam worries how much time Beattie and Ben spend at the farm.

Matt discovers his uncle has gotten a job in the village. Edward questions his faith and reveals to the Bishop that he is unsure whether it can be restored.

Beattie has taken a drastic liking to the twins. Amos writes to Henry, informing him that his brother has died.

George sells his share of the village shop to Alison, while Henry purchases Amy's share. Jack backs out of the film contract and leaves the village, realising he shouldn't have returned.

Matt receives a pleasant visit from his aunt and uncle, whilst Jack receives an unpleasant visit from Josh.

Amos discovers his brother is dying and goes to see him, leaving Henry in charge. Mark leaves for agricultural cottage, whilst an infuriated Annie tells Josh to stop calling for Jack and come see him.

Matt begins to get over Peggy, whilst Edward is informed that Hilda has been arrested.

The Sugdens take care of a horrified Hilda, whilst Joe receives a postcard from Carol and decides to write her a letter.

George refuses to allow Alison to purchase the shop despite being talked to by Henry. Jim's mother Hilda arrives in the village for Jim's upcoming trial.

Charlie is found and Fred is treated in hospital. Annie reveals that Charlie let his wife die, which is why she is sour toward him.

Sam has a funny turn and Annie calls in Clare, she diagnoses him with sunstroke. A search for Fred and Charlie leads the searchers to Fred in his crashed car but no sign of Charlie.

Carol stops Joe from potentially killing Bruce, instead finding him injured and takes him back to the farmhouse. Believing he is the sheep killer, Henry thinks the dog should be put down. However, Clare points out that Bruce couldn't have killed the sheep because his teeth are in poor shape.

As Edward, Andrew and Clare try to help Charlie, his dog escapes. Henry tries to shoot him, but Bruce can't get back into the house.

Edward makes clear to Clare that he doesn't like the way she's treating Charlie. Meanwhile, Charlie sustains an injury as a result of his feud between Andrew.

Matt has been up all night looking for the stray dog; he wonders about Charlie's dog. Jack calls on Charlie, he has a hangover from the night before. Reverend Ruskin and Liz practice one of the hymns from choir practice. Charlie calls at the Vicarage and tells Reverend Ruskin that he can't use his privy anymore as Andrew has blocked his path. Dr. Scott arrives and Ruskin is shocked when she suggests that Charlie should be in a home. She explains that she has tried to talk to his son with little success. Annie wonders why Jack takes on all the lost causes.

Charlie isolates himself from everyone except Jack, despite everyone trying to help him. Meanwhile, Matt tries to find a solution to his sheepdog problem.

Joe passes his motorbike test, while Amos returns to York. Amy decides to sell the shop and gives Alison first refusal.

Mick gets on the wrong sides of Matt and Alison, and has the audacity to call everyone else rude! Alison comforts Matt by telling him about her late husband and deceased child.

George sells Rose Cottage and informs Charlie that he will have new landlords. Matt finds a parcel delivered to Peggy, and discovers it's a gift for him.

Ronald is shocked when Mark refuses to come to London and threatens to disown him. However, George tells Ronald that Mark is always welcome with him. Meanwhile, Henry overhears Joe teasing Jack over Alison.

Mark talks to Annie about his father, and is left with good advice. Later, Ronald turns up wanting to take Mark back to London. Carol is annoyed when Joe can't get out of the cricket match.

Mark begins working at Emmerdale Farm, and is disappointed to return home and find his parents are passing through Beckindale, but won't see him. Meanwhile, Amy considers selling the shop, and her reasons are shown when he is hospitalised after a fall.

Bob continues to try get Matt to accept the job, while the villagers prepare for the cricket game.

Bob tries to talk Matt round to accepting the farm manager job. Amos and Alison row as Amos accuses her of playing off him and Henry.

Amos meets his temporary replacement at The Woolpack, whilst Joe is shocked when Carol makes a declaration of love to him.

Clare tells Amy that she can no longer run the shop, whilst Mr Lodz talks to Jack about turning his book into a film.

Amy tries to play matchmaker between Henry and Alison while Carol plays with Joe's heart.

Janie helps out the Sugdens by looking after the twins. Henry's businessman side comes out and Annie calls him insensitive.

Grief strikes following Peggy's funeral as Henry snaps at Amos. Bob arrives and offers Matt a job that would be hard to turn down.

Peggy has died in hospital and the Sugdens are in mourning. Edward arrives to comfort the family and begin planning the funeral.

Peggy relents and decides to have the twins christened, but tragedy strikes when Peggy collapses and is rushed to hospital. Bobby falls running away from Joe and makes allegations that Joe hit him.

Amos offers Alison her job back but she declined, while Edward recommends her to Amy.

Annie helps Ronnie with the Crossthwaite's move to Hull. Meanwhile, Alison returns and begins looking for a job.

Clare tells Simon that she doesn't want to marry yet. He decides to return home with Mavis. Clare refers Liz to an osteopath regarding her back, whilst Sam and Peggy row over christening the twins.

The Woolpack is packed as the villagers celebrate the countdown to 1975. Henry gets a shock to discover Marian has returned.

The dinner party gets underway at Emmerdale Farm and the attendees try to keep Marian's return to the village secret from Henry. Also, Beattie reveals Annie is getting driving lessons.

Christmas preparations get under way, but Kathy decides to move back to Hotten to the unhappiness of Jim.

Norah announces her decision to add a post office to the shop. Meanwhile, Joe rejects Kathy after believing she was with James.

Kathy tells Jim that he can't control her, and Annie is unsettled when she arrives at Emmerdale Farm with a bag of clothes.

Sam has a funny turn in the garden, while Annie remains suspicious about Kathy and Joe.

Annie uncovers Joe's lies, whilst Jim forces the family home after hearing gossip.

Annie tries to get Joe to see Christine but to no avail. Meanwhile, Kathy asks Henry about renting the shop flat.

Annie nearly discovers the true extent of Kathy and Joe's relationship. Meanwhile, James attempts to find alternate accomodation instead of Emmerdale Farm.

Kathy tells Jim that her marriage to Kenny is over. Meanwhile, Henry sorts out a squabble between Sam, Norah and Amos.

Joe and Kathy bond over their unhappy marriages and Henry and Annie catch them kissing. Meanwhile, Robert tries to track down Christine.

James and Kathy strike up a friendship, while Annie tries to get Joe to tell Robert about Christine's whereabouts. Also, Amos is unhappy with the mural in The Woolpack.

Joe is upset when Christine breaks off their marriage and gives him back the ring. Meanwhile, Amos is annoyed when people keep using The Woolpack phone as the phone box is out of order.

Sam berates Joe for the village gossip, saying that he brings shame on the family. In turn, Annie berates Sam for making it public knowledge. Meanwhile, Henry is annoyed that Norah is continuing to make decisions without informing him, and the new headmaster arrives in the village.

Norah spreads the word that a new headmaster will be joining the village. Meanwhile, Annie tries to help Joe and Norah tries to get the shop a liquor license.

Joe's suspicions are confirmed when he tracks down Christine's ex-boyfriend and finds them together. Meanwhile, Amos is unnerved with Norah's decision to sell soft drinks at the shop.

Norah catches a thief, and is surprised to find the familiar face of Kathy Davis in her shop - but with no husband in sight.

Sam is forced to tell Robert that Christine has gone missing. Meanwhile, Amos returns from holiday and is shocked to find the changes in The Woolpack.

Henry is annoyed when Norah begins to take over his responsibilities. Meanwhile, Sam is concerned about Joe after hearing Joe say he doesn't care if Christine didn't return.

Joe tears through the village and nearly runs Henry over in his landrover. However, Joe has no recollection of the incident. Meanwhile, Robert tries to put things right with Joe and Christine.

Christine and Joe have a massive row, and Christine walks out on him. She later returns and informs him that their marriage isn't going to work. Meanwhile, Henry offers Liz a job at the shop.

Joe is annoyed to discover that he and Christine are beholden to Robert. Meanwhile, William Hatherwick offers his services to Norah and Henry.

Annie is unnerved to discover Christine is lying to Joe. Meanwhile, Norah plans a holiday with Norman.

Robert goes to see Christine but she is fuming that he didn't go to her wedding. Meanwhile, Joe tries to solve Davey's problem.

Liz is unhappy when Edward is forced to cancel their trip to Norfolk as Edward is too busy. Also, Christine feels out of place at the Sugdens dinner.

Edward is fuming at Wally upon discovering Wally has attempted to dissuade Fred into increasing the church budget. Meanwhile, Henry feels Norah is getting too big for her boots when she continues to make dramatic changes at the shop.

The village fête gets underway and Sam strives to win the vegetable contest, but loses to Tom Raistrick. Meanwhile, Henry informs George that he is the full owner of the shop and George tells him that's he's accepted within the village now.

Norah causes controversy with Edward and Sam at the shop, whereas Amos begins to have suspicions about George.

Henry and Matt say goodbye to Alison as she moves to Jersey. Meanwhile, Sgt. Marsden warns the Sugdens about a break-in in the area.

Annie worries that Christine is forcing Joe to go along with decisions he doesn't want to. Meanwhile, Alison's leaving party takes place at The Woolpack.

On Christine and Joe's wedding day, Robert lets Christine down. Henry gives her away instead. Afterwards, Christine is surprised to discover her mother had attended.

Alison decides to leave the village and informs Henry. Meanwhile, Annie asks Henry to give Christine away if Robert doesn't turn up.

Matt is upset after being rejected by Alison. Meanwhile, Amos and Norah clash over who Wilf is working for.

Christine is angry when Matt changes his mind about them moving into Hawthorn Cottage. Meanwhile, Norah begins making changes at the shop.

Henry offers Norah Alison's job at the shop. Meanwhile, Joe and Christine consider going to London for their honeymoon.

Disaster strikes at The Woolpack when the chimney collapses and the place is covered in dust. Matt tells Alison that her criminal record doesn't change his feelings, but she says she can't marry him.

Work on The Woolpack chimney goes underway, whilst Annie hints to Christine that marriage isn't to be taken lightly. Meanwhile, Alison prepares to tell Matt that she has been in prison.

Christine is unhappy when Joe tries to avoid talking about the honeymoon, and Joe is annoyed when Sam announces his suspicions about where Christine gets her money. Meanwhile, Matt tells Alison that Louise told him that she had been admitted to a mental hospital but assures her that it doesn't make a difference to him.

Amos discovers Ethel and Mr. Snape are due to marry soon, while Joe asks Matt to be his best man. Also, Alison announces her intention to leave Beckindale to Henry.

Everyone is shocked upon discovering Dryden has absconded. Meanwhile, Christine's plans for her wedding don't match Joe's.

Annie and Henry are shocked when Paul reveals Dryden up and left his fiancee Celia six months ago and they've been on the hunt for him since. Meanwhile, Robert visits Joe and warns him off marrying Christine.

Dryden continues to hide in the village as Celia and Paul search for him. Later, he accidentally upsets Alison whilst talking about marriage.

Edward realises he has made a mistake upon discovering Letty has visited Father Dougan. Meanwhile, Joe and Christine set a wedding date, whilst Dryden goes sour when Celia finds him in The Woolpack.

Liz tries to get Edward to end his feud with Wally, to no avail. Meanwhile, Joe worries when he rings Robert but doesn't get a call back.

Diana shares one final meal with Dryden before leaving for Bradford. Meanwhile, Dryden receives a complaint from George about subletting the Forge.

Dorrie is enraged that everyone gets to vote about whether or not Letty gets to remain on the mother's union, including Letty.

After having second thoughts, Diana admits she feels like Beckindale isn't home and she and Franklin make plans to move elsewhere. Meanwhile, Letty is shocked to discover Mick has gone and taken her kids.

Franklin feels out of place in the village and asks Diana if she's settled in yet. She tells him he may settle if he stays, but Franklin wants to move to London. Meanwhile, Dryden helps Letty and gives her some good

Franklin is enraged to discover Dryden had stayed at Crossthwaite's Cottage whilst he was away, worried about what people would think. Diana hits back, reminding him he didn't care when he was drinking himself silly. Later, he is cool towards Dryden and disallows him to explain himself.

Edward is annoyed that Dorrie has had the audacity to tell Letty that she is banned from the mother's union, despite everyone else disagreeing with Dorrie.

Sarah's decision about the stables surprises everyone except Annie and she tells Matt that she is returning to her husband. She then says to Amos that she is leaving tomorrow. It transpires that she is not married at all, and she just said she was. Meanwhile, the New Year Celebrations are about to take place in The Woolpack. Sarah has dropped the idea of renting the stables. Sarah and Matt have a talk and decide to call things off. Matt says to Sarah she can come back to Beckindale any times and Sarah says she may just take him up on that offer.

Sarah has doubts concerning the stables at Hawthorn Cottage - but only Matt knows why. Kathy is suspicious when she sees Joe and Rosemary together.

It looks like disappointment all round for everyone but Amos and The Woolpack come up with a festive surprise when Amos dresses up as Father Christmas and presents Henry with the gift of a new pub sign.

There is concern over Matt's interest in Sarah but it doesn't seem to bother him. P.B. adds some touches to The Woolpack mural. Sarah shows interest in renting stables at Hawthorn Cottage.

Rosemary has her own reasons for not wanting to go home for Christmas. Annie berates Sam for having too many opinions and Matt becomes closer to married Sarah.

Henry reveals his Christmas plans but they get an unexpected reception at Emmerdale Farm. Matt bumps into an old friend, Sarah Foster, when they both discover a sheep lying in the middle of a country road. Local artist P.B. returns to The Woolpack to do some more painting.

Madge says she has been contacted by the housing officers in London, telling her they have a new flat for her. She says she will be returning to London tomorrow so will not be a nuisance to Beckindale any more. Madge opens up to Annie about how she ran off with a man, Mickey, when she left Frank. Madge says Frank and his family went to London to look for her so they could duff her and Mickey up, but Mickey had some mates as well. Madge says things did not work out shortly after they had arrived in London, and Mickey left her, and she gave up on men after that. Meanwhile, Beckindale awaits Sam's decision - the future of their traditional Harvest Supper hangs in the balance. Madge attends The Harvest Supper that night. She makes peace with Hilda and says to her that she is going back to London in the morning. Madge enjoys her last night in Beckindale and dances on the stage. Everyone has fun at the Supper.

Sam's resolution is put to a further test as one by one his 'friends' desert him and he finds himself alone.

Annie has a difficult decision to make when Sam gives his ultimatum to the Parish Council.

There are doubts concerning Bob Matthews plans for the church, but for Sam there can only be one decision.

Madge continues to make her presence felt at Emmerdale Farm. Hilda's aghast to discover her sister-in-law has shown her face in Beckindale again. Sam finds himself in a predicament when his dislike for Madge is tempered by her flattery. When Madge is out collecting some cabbages, Sam says she was married to Frank Semple 30 years ago but she left him for a Londoner who was only in the village for 2 days. Sam says Frank went to London to find her but was unsuccessful, and upon his return to Beckindale, he shut himself away, and later died. Hilda wants Madge thrown out of The Woolpack, but Henry and Amos refuse.

Two strangers arrive in Beckindale. For reasons of their own, both want to reach Emmerdale Farm. Madge Semple's arrival shocks Sam.

For Joe and Annie - The Annual Beckindale Picnic does not hold out much promise.

It is two years since Jack's departure but Joe still feels he lives in his older brother's shadow.

For Joe and Kathy, the Seed Cut festivity brings back memories which decide their plans for a holiday.

Annie has doubts about Joe's holiday and Kathy gets ideas of her own.

Rosemary learns that Freda's invitation to Sunday tea is more than it seems.

Annie helps Rosemary realise that her treatment of Martin might not be what she intends.

Rosemary's mother is set on leaving Emmerdale Farm soon but that is before Annie has her way.

Martin's surprising offer to help Rosemary stay in Beckindale seems to please no-one, especially Sam.

Sam is sure Rosemary is going to leave the farm but he is not sure with whom.

Rosemary gets a surprise when Sam puts right a long-standing family feud but her mother has other ideas.

Rosemary's mother accepts Annie's offer to convalesce at Emmerdale Farm but there are unexpected consequences.

Summer is now almost over at Emmerdale Farm, Annie tries to ease growing family concern about Rosemary's pending departure.

Annie has a serious talk to Martin and has doubts about her election as Church Warden. Edward gives Jim a talking to over his attitude to his family. Jim says how he does not like being told how to run a farm by his own son when Edward says you should listen to young people as they have a say in the world they are going to live in. Edward makes his final sermon in church.

Martin stays the night at Emmerdale Farm. Annie is becoming worried about Rosemary's future, and finds she is unwittingly likely to renew the friction between the Gimbels and the Sugdens. Matt helps Edward and Liz as they prepare to leave the village.

Joe finds his helping hand unwelcome and Rosemary complicates matters by drinking with Martin. Jim comes into The Woolpack and sees Martin with Rosemary. Jim demands that Martin comes home now. Martin refuses. Jim says he need not come home at all then. Jim gives Martin some money, saying he wont have it be said that he turfed him out to starve. Jim then leaves.

Annie finds herself becoming involved in the quarrels of Holly Farm. Jim is suspicious of Kathy and Joe.

Annie tells Henry the reason for her mysterious visit to Hotten.

Rosemary thinks a relationship is developing between Joe and Kathy. Ernie Shuttleworth, the landlord of The Malt Shovel, the village's rival pub appears at The Woolpack. Ernie says a few racy things about women and suggests that The Woolpack has a jukebox.

Matt wants to go search for Annie, but Henry offers to go instead. Rosemary's baked ham is a great success, even with Sam. While looking for Annie Henry twists his ankle opening a gate. Kathy comes to The Woolpack to get some sherry. She wants to make a trifle for her father's birthday. She talks to Amos about Reverend Ruskin leaving, and Amos suddenly realizes that Liz will be leaving too, and wonders if Henry has thought about the consequences for the shop.

It's lambing time, but with Annie now elected Church Warden there is a shortage of hands at Emmerdale Farm. While Annie's gone down to the village to talk to the vicar she's left Rosemary in charge of dinner. Sam's not impressed at first when she's making baked ham instead of boiled.

Rosemary makes an apology. Rumour gets round that James is installing a bathroom into the cottage he rents. James says he has actually bought the cottage so will be staying in Beckindale. The election for the People's Warden is held. Reverend Ruskin has some news of his own. He is being transferred to another parish in the area. He says he will keep in touch with Beckindale residents. Sam has been nominated as churchwarden but turns the vote down. It is between Annie and Cyril Bush. Cyril withdraws, so Annie is elected as the new churchwarden. Ruskin then declares the meeting closed.

Rosemary learns more about her mother. George has put his land up for sale. Reverend Ruskin asks to speak to Sam. Sam's hopes about being elected churchwarden are dashed when Edward asks him who he thinks would be best elected as churchwarden, someone who is younger. Sam is disappointed at not being elected.

Rosemary plans a surprise - but there's an embarrassing outcome. Jim cuts his hand and Joe tends to it. Amos realises he may have badly misjudged Henry's intentions over Miffield Hall.

Rosemary talks about her parents, and Reverend Ruskin visits Annie. Henry gets The Mill surveyed by Grant. They are being watched by Sam who is curious as to why Henry is interested in the old mill. Annie invites Jim and Kathy round for tea. The village wonders whether Henry is interested in Miffield Hall. Emmerdale Farm has a leaky window in the attic. Sam blames former villager Dryden Hogben for not doing it right before he left the village last year.

Rosemary takes a decision about visiting her mother. Amos makes up his own mind about Henry.

Annie becomes concerned at Sam's determination to be elected Church Warden.

Sam hints that there is something between Kathy and James. Annie is annoyed at Sam gossiping and decides to put him straight on the matter. She says James gave Kathy a lift them dropped her off at Holly Farm where Kathy stayed for the rest of the night. Annie then goes to visit Freda.

Rosemary begins to learn the meaning of farm life; Kathy Gimbel makes a surprise visit.

Kathy returns to the village and meets with James. Meanwhile, Joe upsets Rosemary by telling her that she will raise a calf and sell it for beef.

The Sugdens celebrate Rosemary's birthday, whilst Henry, Matt and Joe discover cracks in The Mill, leaving it unsafe.

Lena discovers George and Yates have disappeared from the village, whilst Sam continues to try break Rosemary and James's friendship.

Sam is determined to ensure Rosemary and James aren't left alone together. Meanwhile, Henry and Amos consider new changes for The Woolpack.

Henry snaps and gives Amos a piece of his mind. He tells Amos and Joe that he will hold them accountable for their actions. Meanwhile, Sam is desperate on seeing James out, making Rosemary feel guilty.

Sam becomes over-protective of Rosemary; he orders her home when he sees her with Amos, and expresses his disapproval when James invites her to a concert in Leeds. Meanwhile, Henry holds Amos responsible for Norah quitting her job.

Matt and Joe find Rosemary Kendall in the Emmerdale Farm fields, and Rosemary opens up to Annie about her late father. Meanwhile, Sam is appalled to discover there may be no replacement church warden, while Henry prepares to add a post office to the shop.

Rosemary hasn't slept all night, worried for Jean Kendall, and later slips out of the house. Meanwhile, Sam rounds up the villagers to elect a new church warden, and Annie is suspicious after seeing Tom and Joe talking in private.

Rosemary arrives to stay with the Sugdens as Jean is admitted to hospital. Meanwhile, Tom advises Joe to get a solicitor about divorcing Christine.

Norah has had enough and leaves the village once in for all, giving Lena the key for the shop. Henry gets a shock when he returns to also get a frosty reception from Amos and Joe.

Robert gets more than he bargained for when Henry offers to help Annie. Henry comes back from Bradford having done legal research. He tells Robert that if his daughter Christine is entitled to half of Joe's share in Emmerdale Farm, then Joe is also entitled to half of Christine's share in Robert's dairy farm, and her share is quite a lot. As Christine is more well off than Joe, Henry says that Joe can sue for maintenance on Christine's share. Henry suggests no claims on either side be made. Robert agrees to the deal, and while he is not pleased that his plan has backfired, he then quietly leaves the pub, and Joe is finally free from the Sharp's forever. Amos decides to sell the old Woolpack, while Henry agrees to use the old airing cupboard as a new toilet room.

Annie and Joe are stunned by Robert's proposed settlement for his daughter's divorce. Robert says that Christine is entitled to half of Joe's share in Emmerdale Farm. Robert gives Joe the name of his lawyer. When Henry is told, he is also worried about his share in Emmerdale. Henry knows that Robert's lawyer is known to cut corners. Henry plans to travel to Bradford to do legal research. Henry confronts Robert and says he will do whatever it takes to protect his investment in Emmerdale.

Jack says he is leaving again tomorrow, so gets ready to say goodbye again, but not before putting several matters right. A disgruntled Robert tries to track down Joe. Jack tells Robert to not have it out with Joe during his evening here at The Woolpack. He asks him to save it for tomorrow so that they can have an enjoyable night. Jack tells Amos that he likes the new Woolpack premises and that it is better than the old Woolpack. Amos says that he is taking to this place as well and that it has developed a good atmosphere. He thanks Jack for his kind words. The following morning, Jack gets into a taxi and leaves for the airport. The others all wave him off. As Jack leaves, Robert pulls up in his car.

Christine's father means to find Joe but the meeting at Hawthorn Cottage is not as he expects.

Joe is determined to resolve problems concerning his marriage but Christine's father threatens to complicate matters.

At Emmerdale Farm, the family's troubles continue, but they seem to have brought a new understanding between Annie's two sons.

So far, Jack's return home has not turned out as he hoped, but the situation is about to change. Nan delivers some sad news to Tad about Bella.

Christine has left, but for Joe problems are far from over. He talks his anger out on Matt. Tad is struggling to cope with his dying wife Bella. Jack visits, Tad when Nan comes downstairs to have a word in private with Tad. Bella has taken a turn for the worse and has to go to hospital. Amos and Henry are having lunch in The Woolpack when Amos suggests that Tad is having an affair with Nan while Bella is dying. Henry is very annoyed, as his late wife Margaret needed a carer when she was dying. Henry says he would have swung for anyone who suggested the things Amos had bene hinting at. He storms out round to Emmerdale where he is actually a bit sorry that he had a go at Amos.

Joe makes a decision concerning his marriage but he is not completely sure it is the right one and Christine decides to leave Beckindale for good, leaving Joe standing on the moors. Rosemary decides to leave Beckindale and return to her mother. She shares a kiss with Joe before leaving.

A misunderstanding puts more strain on the already shaky reunion between Joe and Christine. Rosemary plans to return to Middlesborough. Amos sees Nan cycling down past The Woolpack. Amos says that she is nursing her cousin Bella who has been ill for the past year.

When a letter arrives from Rome, doubts grow concerning Jack's reason for returning to Emmerdale Farm. Jack reads the letter, then screws it up.

Matt takes Rosemary for a drive through the village. They see Christine at the graves of Sally and Sam. Annie finds herself involved in Joe's decision about the future of his marriage. Christine tells her there is no hope for her and Joe. Jack meets Christine for the first time.

Joe has doubts about Christine's intentions when he arrives to find her at Hawthorn Cottage. They have a big talk about their marriage. Jack receives a letter from his publishers. They want to know when he will tell them ideas on his next book.

After more than two years, Jack Sugden returns to Emmerdale Farm but he is not the only visitor as Joe's wife, Christine, also pays a visit - letting herself into Hawthorn Cottage. Jack is surprised to find The Woolpack has relocated premises and is greeted by Annie, Amos and Henry.

Heather returns to Emmerdale Farm to collect her handbag and apologises to Rosemary for her and Steve's behaviour. Martin is surprised by Rosemary's sudden decision about their future.

Rosemary is upset when she witnesses an argument between Steve and Heather in which he threatens to hit her. She tells a furious Annie who orders them out. Heather and Steve leave. Afterwards, Rosemary finds Heather's handbag and her shawl has been left behind. Annie is not happy at the prospect that she will have to return to collect them.

Rosemary is confused - Heather Bannerman is a woman who seems to have everything yet is reluctant to return to her husband.

Rosemary finally confesses to Annie why it is she must leave Emmerdale. Heather's husband, Steve, arrives at the farm.

Heather stays at the farm overnight and Annie calls for a doctor. Annie takes Heather Bannerman some breakfast. Heather's car is badly damaged, as is the wall, and Matt and Joe clear some of the rubble. Locum doctor Dr Evans calls, as Dr Scott is unavailable. Heather admits the car is not her's but her husband Steve Bannerman's.

The Sugdens' dinner is interrupted when a car crashes into the wall at Emmerdale Farm. Joe, Matt and Annie go to assist. A lady who was driving is in a state of shock but appears not to be badly hurt. She is taken into Emmerdale Farm. Sam says the new bobby will find out what happens. It is late at night and they say they will examine the full damage of the car in the morning. The driver is taken to the attic conversion at Emmerdale and given a bed for the night.

The day of Fred's arrest arrives - and goes with a lesson for all including P.C Croft. P.C Croft has found out that Fred shot the pheasant on common land and when it fell out of the tree afterwards, it was anybody's to pick up. Fred wants to be arrested but Croft says he will not take the matter any further. Sam says they should make him feel welcome. Croft then goes to The Woolpack for a pint with the locals that night.

Fred decides to turn himself in, but Annie has her own plans. Fred feels ill and Annie allows him to stay at Emmerdale Farm. She calls Dr Clare Scott. P.C Croft visits the grave of a former Beckindale policeman, Arthur Audry.

Will continues to follow the letter of the law, but Sam finds a way to alter the course of justice. Due to Sam thinking Will's police dog, Saxon, killed 2 sheep on Emmerdale Farm land 3 nights ago, Will wants to prove or disprove it. He takes Saxon to a sheep field, and Saxon does not attack any of the sheep. It turns out there is a second dog in the area, which Saxon chases, and Joe shoots the dog, thus vindicating Saxon. Will says he will pursue his case against Fred Farrar. Will also tells Joe that if the bullet he fired had hit Saxon, then he'd be in big trouble.

Will's wife, Julie seeks Rosemary's help but there are misgivings about going behind people's backs. Matt visits Ted Dean who says he has been booked by Croft for driving his tractor more than 6 miles a day without a license. Lena is running the shop, and comments on Fred Farrar being a poacher, she is a bit shocked but amused.

Sam visits Will and tells him that two sheep have been killed at Emmerdale Farm by a dog resembling Will's own Alsatian. He tells Will that if he's keen to arrest Fred maybe he should think about his own animal as well. Joe shoots the dog causing the fatalities and learns it is not Will's dog. Will decides not to continue with his prosecution of Fred.

The arrival of a new policeman, PC Will Croft, makes a quick but unhappy impression on Beckindale, especially with Fred Farrar. Amos worries about the new village police officer, who has taken over from Fred Hallam, and how his clock is always right. Croft tells him his clock is slow. He catches Fred poaching in a country lane and asks for his details. Fred says he shot the bird on a common road. PC Croft books him.

The big day arrives for Amos and Henry, but at Emmerdale Farm life gets back to normal. Henry says the cosiness in the new Woolpack is missing but Amos seems to start liking the new pub. They go to the old Woolpack to collect a few final things with Mel before handing in the keys to the estate agent. The old Woolpack is now closed forever. Matt and Beth have a talk and decide to end their relationship, as does Mel and Rosemary.

For those at Emmerdale Farm and The Woolpack it's a time to make plans and decisions about the future. Henry and Amos pack up their belongings ready for the move. They visit the new premises as it is being decorated. Amos says he does not feel at home here, and that Henry is being very hasty about all this. Mel says the new pub should be ready for use tomorrow night. A party is held at The original Woolpack to celebrate their last night of service in the building. Amos reluctantly gives a speech, expressing his gratitude to the customers and welcoming them to the new premises as of tomorrow.

Mr Openshaw visits Emmerdale Farm and wants to know about Matt's relationship with Beth. Mel informs Henry and Amos that planning permission for the old corn chandlers has been approved and The Woolpack license can be transferred. Amos still isn't keen. Mel informs Henry that he can put him in contact with a firm in Bradford who can convert the corn chandlers into a pub within a week. Amos prepares for a visit from his aunt, but is disappointed when she cancels.

Martin thinks Rosemary has behaved badly and insists that she owes him an explanation for seeing other men behind his back. Martin wants to know where Rosemary was on the night that Annie did not know where she was. As Rosemary is putting her coat on to walk out, Martin stands in front of the door, blocking her way. He says he would always tell her if he was up to anything, not make up excuses. Mel calls round and Martin then leaves. At The Woolpack, Sam gives the history of the old chandlers, saying Qatar Hughes lived there, and how the place could be haunted. Henry tells Amos that to get planning permission on the former corn chandlers, they have to let them know by today. Mel comes round to the Woolpack to discuss the move.

The move from The Woolpack now seems certain though plans to achieve this are very uncertain. Amos is annoyed at Henry for letting Walter in a minute before opening. Henry says he has had a look at the old corn chandlers and says it is a possibility. He says to Amos that a bolt on the front door is loose. Amos says he has been in this pub for 18 years. Mr Wilks says they will have a party on the last night at the current pub before moving the the new one.

Mel looks over the old corn chandlers. It is derelict and needs some work but is a viable new premises for The Woolpack. Matt learns to live with his grief but has difficulty convincing everyone else that life must go on. Henry agrees to Mel that he will have a look at the old corn chandlers. Mel says that a family with the surname Mason used to live there in the 1920s.

Matt breaks down in tears in front of Beth. Henry attempts to comfort Annie and Matt. Joe expresses his annoyance to Rosemary that nobody came to Hawthorn Cottage to inform him of the accident and instead had to hear about it from Kathy. Amos continues to bury his head in the sand over The Woolpack, even after Sam had told Henry that over 40 years ago, a house behind the Woolpack collapsed due to subsidence. Amos is adamant that the current premises will be safe.

A policeman informs Matt that Beattie and the twins are dead. Ben takes Beattie's death hard and Sam worries that the twins were sent away because of him.

Walter reveals that there has been a train accident at the junction, and Annie receives a call from Ben that Beattie's car was struck by a train, killing her and the twins. Meanwhile, Amos and Henry find somewhere to move The Woolpack to.

Scaffolding is erected outside The Woolpack in preparation for a survey of the foundations. Beattie rings Matt to say she's taking the twins to Bradford. Henry tries to convince Amos that they need to move premises. Amos will not agree to this as yet. Amos and Henry mention Alison Gibbons, and Amos says he is surprised Wilks never heard from her.

The surveyor says there is a suspected earth fault under the pub. Sam does little to settle their minds when he tells Henry that over 40 years ago there used to be a house owned by Derby Eccles which was located behind the pub that fell down one night, following the discovery of a crack. Amos says that if Henry hadn't had mentioned surveying he could have had Wilf Padgett come back and fill the crack in. Henry suggests moving the premises and having the license transferred but Amos is not pleased.

Amos and Henry await a visit from a surveyor after a huge crack is found in The Woolpack fireplace. Amos suggests that Wilf Padgett has a look at it. Sam takes an interest in his toolshed at Emmerdale Farm and refuses to budge for anyone. Kathy Gimbel is talking on the phone, and Amos eavesdrops. She knows this, and mocks him by telling him that she is going to her dad's sisters, and that he should get more details tonight when they come for a drink.

Richard is all set to meet up with Matt to inform him of his plans to marry Dolly but Dolly intervenes and strikes a deal with him. Dolly promises Richard that if he doesn't meet up with Matt, then she will meet him in the New Year to discuss the future. Richard agrees and a date is set for the two of them to meet in January at Brassington. That evening the play takes place and Matt is one of the stars of the proceedings, but despite this Dolly can't bear to watch despite Annie's pleas. She needs time to go away and think about what she wants. At the end of the play, Henry comes out to take Dolly down to Hotten for her bus.

Dolly continues to fend off Richard's attempts for a reconciliation. He comes up against some stern opposition though in the form of Annie. When he tells her that he wants to marry Dolly, Annie turns on him and tells him that she knows about the baby and that he was never much of a father and that he can't own people, like he wants to own his son and Dolly. Later on that evening at the farm, Dolly drops her bombshell on Matt, telling him that she won't be staying for Christmas after all and that she has a child.

Amos continues with his negative attitude towards the play but it turns out that his real grouse is that no one asked him to be in the play in the first place. Rumours persist about the man called Richard. Amos emerges with the theory that he is Dolly's fiance and thinks that she's led Matt a bit of a dance but Henry points out that Richard may be only an ex-fiance

Amos complains to Dolly about how the whole village seems to be obsessed with the play. Up at Emmerdale Farm, Joe is repairing the drive when a young man, Richard Roper, drives past in a car, stops a bit down the road, then comes up. He tells Joe that he's merely looking around then drives off again as Henry arrives. Joe tells him that Richard has been driving past the farm several times and Henry replies that he's seen him in the village too.

Lesley informs Joe that she's got a secret to tell him but Amos is in earshot. After Sam's refusal to be best man at the wedding, Annie turns to Henry who readily accepts. The only problem is that the football team will be left without a trainer. Henry quickly solves the problem though by suggesting that Amos could do it instead and Sam agrees. Amos gets the wrong end of the stick when he sees Annie and Henry setting off in their finery for the church. He decides to stick around and see what develops, totally forgetting about the football match.

Amos is fighting a rearguard action against the Hotten Courier who are demanding that he produces an article about the Butterworth Ball. In the evening, Annie approaches Sam with a proposition. Mr and Mrs Gibson are getting married again and Annie wants Sam to be the best man.

In the middle of the night, there is a disturbance in the Vicarage garden which brings out Donald and Dolly. Getting no answer, Donald goes inside and phones the police while the intruder slinks away. Lesley is given a helping hand by Annie when she goes to the vicar's to start preparations for her grandparents' re-marriage. Meanwhile, Sam thinks Little Teaker knows where the Butterworth Ball is.

Annie receives a mysterious phone call at Emmerdale Farm but whoever the caller wanted is out. Meanwhile at The Woolpack, Amos is in big trouble when Fred Teaker enters the pub to examine the Butterworth Ball. When Amos prevaricates, Fred leaves, with threats that if it isn't the real ball, Amos is in big trouble!

Joe and Matt come to the conclusion that the Butterworth Ball is in the hands of someone in Robblesfield. Then all of a sudden a girl appears and turns out to be Lesley. She is staying at Hawthorn Cottage with her grandparents. Dolly is not getting on with Donald. So much so that she tells Matt she is thinking of leaving Beckindale altogether to work somewhere else.

It is night time, and Matt has just dropped Dolly at the Vicarage after a night out. As he drives past The Woolpack, a shadowy figure passes in front of his headlight, going away from the pub. Meanwhile in The Woolpack, Henry discovers that the front door is open. He accuses Amos of having neglected his duties but Amos fervently denies this. He wants to call the police but as nothing seems to have been stolen or damaged, Henry tells him not to be so silly. Amos' fears are proved justified the next day though when Sam, in The Woolpack, spots a vacant niche where the Butterworth Ball should be and realises someone has taken it.

The post induction-party gives the new vicar, Donald, a chance to introduce himself to Beckindale. One person that is missing though is Angela. She has decided that following the previous nights dramas on the fell, it would be best if she returns home which she did that afternoon. On her way back to The Woolpack, Dolly bumps into Matt who is on his way to the party. They exchange pleasantries and it isn't long before Matt realises that The Woolpack is a more appealing evening than the post-induction party.

There's plenty of cows roaming about after she left the gate open, but Angela hasn't been seen since she ran away from Sam. It emerges that a pregnant cow has fallen so the Fell Rescue Team has to be called out. Amos immediately smells a story.

There's a change of vicar in the village and it puts Dolly's living arrangements in jeopardy once again. Angela and Sam go for walk up on the fell. All is going well until Angela continually plays with her radio and this prompts Sam to get cross. Angela responds by running away from him. She then walks through a field and leaves the gate open, frightened by the cows, which start to escape.

Amos is horrified when Sam says that he might write a piece for the Courier about his experiences in Italy instead of letting Amos interview him for his piece. Angela appears to be finally coming out of her shell after Henry takes her out birdwatching and rewards her for her good behaviour with a shandy in The Woolpack.

Sam is back from Rome. He descends the long hill behind the farm and spots a girl in his vegetable garden. When he reaches her perplexed as to who she may be, he speaks brusquely to her, but all she will say is that she's staying at the farm. Sam decides to go investigate.

David's scheme for bringing children to the Dales for holidays has come unstuck with one of the families and a girl called Angela has been left homeless. Somewhere else has to be found for her, which won't be easy as she's a difficult child from a broken home. Dolly suggests Emmerdale and, though doubtful, agrees to ask. Annie says yes, as always, much to the delight of Joe, especially after he sees what the girl called Angela looks like.

Annie puts a dampener on Henry's plans to buy the cottage next door to Joe's, her reason being that she doesn't believe that the rich should corner the market for cottages and suggests he thinks again. Ted Barker launches a scathing attack on Amos in The Woolpack after the Courier publishes an article, written by Amos, quoting Ted as saying the recent spate of fires have all been caused by the tourists. Meanwhile, Frank's plans for a caravan site have collapsed following a fire at his farm leaving Emmerdale as the only applicant for planning permission. A caravan site is theirs - if they want it.

Frank has an inkling that Joe is up to something but has no idea to what extent his secretive antics will effect his caravan plans. It's the Robblesfield Gala and Amos is there in his roving reporter role to cover the procession of vintage fire engines which Joe is part of. Amos then proceeds to ruin Joe's afternoon by telling him who may be his new next door neighbour - Henry.

Joe reveals his idea for stopping Frank's caravan site. He proposes that Emmerdale Farm should also apply for a licence for a caravan site, reckoning that they've got a field that's more suited and that if there is to be a site, it might as well be run properly. Henry is impressed but Matt is sceptical. Matt is also unhappy about Dolly's advancing relationship with David, especially when he finds out that he is taking her to Leeds on a night out.

Amos interviews Ted for the courier. Matt and Joe discuss Frank's planned caravan site. Just as Joe is about to have dinner, but he receives a call about another fire in the village. Amos is also called out to the fire. Joe gets a hands-on lesson from Ted as he puts out a potentially dangerous barn fire.

David is becoming frustrated at the length of time it is taking the people of Beckindale to accept him. Frank Armitage causes a stir in Beckindale when he announces to Amos, in his reporter role, that he plans to build a caravan site on his land in order to fund his passion for stock car racing. Despite the problems that it could cause Joe is convinced that Frank won't budge and Annie is worried that the whole issue is going to split the close knit village.

A fire brakes out at Emmerdale Farm in a stack of straw and the Beckindale Volunteer Fire Service is manfully fighting the blaze. During the fire fighting one of the members of the team is burned.

Joe and Matt are still deliberating over why Basil has really come to Beckindale with Joe overhearing Basil talking about his home life only fuelling their intrigue. Dolly packs away her things at The Woolpack as she prepares to move to the Vicarage. The explanation for the malicious phone calls is now beginning to work its way around the village. Henry informs Amos that the phone calls came from a girl that David once nearly married but she is now mentally ill and has just been released from a mental home. Meanwhile, Basil is doing everything he can to avoid his daughter Renee Barstow, who is searching for him. According to her, he left home after the rest of the family tried to put him on a diet!

Allegations are being made by the caller that David has done a girl wrong. He explains to Joe that it was a girl that he was supposed to marry but he changed his mind and someone is still holding a grudge.

The controversies surrounding David continue with Mrs Bullock demanding a reprimand for him following his 'antics' at the dance in Hotten. Joe assures Annie that nothing untoward happened at the dance but she points out that Vicars have to set an example. In the meantime, Dolly has decided to accept David's offer of a room at the Vicarage. David also speaks to Amos about a room at The Woolpack. The phone calls are continuing as well, and it is only through strong persuasion from David that Annie and Henry agree not to phone the police. They agree to a delay of two days. David thinks he knows who are behind the calls. Suddenly, things come to a head as Amos receives a call at The Woolpack that horrifies him.

Jubilee day has arrived and Basil is keen to make sure that he is celebrating at Henry's expense by inviting Annie to dinner the following evening. Later on in the day, Joe receives a phone call from David who tells him that Dolly has fallen off her scooter. Joe tells Matt who immediately departs to see her. The doctor tells Dolly not to use her leg for a bit so work at the pub is out. At this point, Matt departs from the Vicarage to collect the damaged scooter and tell Henry. Leaving David and Dolly alone, David offers a spare room to Dolly.

It emerges that the malicious phone calls that Annie has received are about David and his activities outside church. Annie tells Henry that the caller mentioned a girl called Julie and they speculate about who the caller could be. They also discuss why the landlord of The Malt Shovel received an identical phone call. Matt and Dolly enjoy some time alone by the river but as they begin to head back it emerges that they have not been alone at all. A woman has been spying on them all the time.

Annie receives an odd phone call which may have something to do with the new vicar. Joe and Matt are determined to establish the real reason for Basil's arrival in Beckindale.

Henry is keen on having a barbecue as part of the Jubilee celebrations but he is stopped in his tracks by Amos and Mrs Bullock. Amos reaches boiling point with Henry over Dolly and the final straw comes when he finds her smalls hanging out in the yard! Up at Emmerdale Farm, Joe and Matt discover Basil Ackroyd's car in the farmyard and it's piled high with luggage.

There is a new vicar in Beckindale to replace the departed Reverend Hockley and he goes by the name of David Cowper but his entrance is not noticed because the rest of Beckindale is celebrating the Jubilee. Matt and Dolly enjoy a romantic afternoon picnic during which Dolly tells Matt that she's sick of working at The Woolpack but she doesn't want to leave Beckindale. There's a surprise call from Sam but he wants to speak to the vicar for a reason that is unknown to everyone else.

Sam prepares to embark on his trip to Rome so that Jack can write his biography. Henry and Amos are in conflict once again over whether or not to employ Dolly who has smoothed her path back into Beckindale by apologising to Annie for the events that occurred at the concert.

There's a surprise phone call from Jack in Rome. He wants to write Sam's biography - to the astonishment of Amos and Henry. Amos goes for a tour around Ephriam's and is stunned to discover that his host for the duration will be Dolly. He is even more stunned when she asks for her job back at The Woolpack.

Amos has problems with The Woolpack clock, but that is soon forgotten when he gets an odd invitation which leads to an even stranger meeting.

Amos is up in arms over Ray's refusal to co-operate with the Hotten Courier, but that's all forgotten when the baby comes back to Emmerdale.

Drama in the night as everyone waits for the birth of Sarah's baby, but the one person who should be there is missing.

Annie feels a mother's concern at Joe's thoughts of a move, but she decides she won't hold on if he wants to leave Beckindale.

Henry and Joe are hatching a surprise for Annie, but her attention is focused on the imminent arrival of Sarah's baby.

Clearing up after the storm, Annie also faces the problem of repairing Ray and Sarah's lives.

As Lucy prepares to leave Beckindale for the final time, Annie tells her that everyone notices the way William has been looking at her but she denies any type of romance. Joe and Matt take up a vantage point above where they expect the latest sheep theft to take place. They get what they came to see but it seems that the police have already beaten them to it.

Annie speaks to Syd and is now convinced that he is trying to be a good lad after he tells her that he has got a job as a sheep loader and has moved back in with his mum. Henry visits the butchers in Manton but his reaction to his entrance makes him even more suspicious about the sheep stealing. Sam goes to The Woolpack for the darts and dominoes evening, but the pub is so full there is no room to play the games.

Syd casually admits to William that he is responsible for the sheep thefts. He is calm because he knows that until evidence is found to prove that he did it then he is in the clear. Joe is determined to find that evidence but first he has to convince Annie and the rest of Emmerdale Farm that his obsession isn't just an act of revenge.

Joe informs Annie that Syd has been sleeping at Demdyke Row and speculation mounts that it is more than just a coincidence that Syd has arrived back in Beckindale at the same time as the sheep have been stolen.

Syd is ruffling a few feathers since returning from prison, not least Joe's and their inevitable meeting is a heated exchange of words but this is only a taster of things to come! Meanwhile, at Emmerdale, Lucy has returned after an unsuccessful spell as a lodger to Mrs Lumley. She has also given up her job so her and Annie set about deciding what she is going to do in the future.

As Matt and Lucy prepare to spend their final day living together it is clear that they have grown fond of one another. There's a suspicious character in the area and it comes in the form of Syd Harker who has been released from jail. He's the last person Joe wants to see again but it isn't long before he's hanging around Emmerdale Farm. At The Woolpack, Amos announces that he's been given an assignment by the Courier but he can't talk about it on the grounds that its secret and dangerous.

Preparations for the holiday are in full swing but Annie is concerned about what gossip will spread if Matt and Lucy are left to stay at Emmerdale on their own. Henry takes her heavy hints and agrees to stay at the farm for the duration of her absence. Amos receives a blow when Lesley reveals to him that her family owns the brewery which supplies a lot of The Woolpack's beer.

Help is on hand for Annie as Lucy has taken two weeks off work to come on help on the farm until Annie is better. Seizing his opportunity, Henry persuades Annie and Sam to go to Rome for a relaxing holiday, with the help of a little white lie from Jack who is already there. At The Woolpack, Amos is given a cryptic message by Lesley about the Ephraim's Brewery.

Henry suggests to Matt that Lucy could move into the farm. Annie falls down the stairs and breaks her arm, and Henry has to take her to hospital which means that Lucy has to man the fort with Matt.

William announces that Freda has left the village, Amos announces that he has been asked to write an obituary of Jim for the Hotten Courier. Meanwhile, Annie is concerned when she attempts to wake Sam from his sleep but there is no response. She calls the doctor out. Also, Joe is smitten to meet the new owner of Hawthorn Cottage - Lesley.

Joe fails in his attempt to reassure Kathy that Jim's suicide wasn't her fault. She is still adamant on leaving and returning home to her farm and in a further bombshell to Joe she tells him that she can't marry him. Amos takes a stand against the editor at the Hotten Courier as he refuses to pry into the private lives of the Gimbels in order to fulfll his role as a reporter.

Kathy and Joe's relationship reaches a new low following the news that Jim has committed suicide and she is so upset at his death that she returns to pack her bags in preparation for departure.

Trevor moves on from NY Estates as his replacement is set to arrive in Beckindale. Meanwhile, Steve discovers that he has been lied to and tells NY Estates that he wants alternate accommodation or he will resign.

Nellie refuses to move, but begins to feel guilty about preventing Steve and his family from moving in. Meanwhile, Dolly helps Matt on the farm but he fusses over her when she feels faint.

Nellie refuses to budge and is upset when Sam tells her NY Estates may take her to court. Meanwhile, Joe's news about attending a course doesn't go down well with the family.

Nellie refuses to budge from her cottage, and is grateful when Amos offers to keep her private life out of the courier. Meanwhile, Joe meets Steve, who is due to move into Nellie's cottage.

Sam fumes upon discovering NY Estates want to evict Nellie, and Henry tries to help her take action.

Trevor discovers the truth and considers hiring Seth as gamekeeper. Meanwhile, Rachel tells Joe that they met too soon and she's not ready for a relationship.

Trevor goes to the police about Sam but is advised to drop the case. Meanwhile, Rachel's husband continues to bother Rachel, asking her to move to London with him.

Trevor catches the wrong man poaching on Home Farm land when Seth gets Sam to hold his dead bird. Meanwhile, Marian returns to Rome.

Trevor is shocked to discover his barn fire may put the fish farm out of business. Meanwhile, Marian puts all rumours to rest by revealing she barely ever sees Jack in Rome.

As the fire is put out, Henry is shocked to find the chemicals have leaked into the fish farm. Meanwhile, Rachel worries about getting too close to Joe.

Disaster strikes when kids start fires on Home Farm land, one setting fire to a barn. Meanwhile, despite being furious with him, Joe is concerned for Vivian.

Vivian gets a grilling from Joe and Henry. Meanwhile, Seth and Sam tie for second place at the vegetable competition.

The Sugdens receive a shock and begin to believe Vivian has been hiding the truth. Meanwhile, Marian tries to dissuade Henry from leaving the village.

Marian returns to the village and Henry voices his idea to move to Rome but she is not keen. However, Vivian tells the Sugdens that he will be buying Henry's share. Having not agreed to anything, Henry hunts him down for a confrontation.

Joe discovers that Ted's bottle previously had poisonous chemicals and hadn't been cleaned, which caused Matt's collapse. Meanwhile, Vivian pushes Henry to live his life the way he wants and considers buying him out of Emmerdale Farm Ltd. and The Woolpack.

Whilst going to help Joe with the milking, Matt collapses and is rushed to hospital. Meanwhile, the death of Henry's aunt hits hard and he contemplates leaving for Rome.

The villagers are shocked to meet the new owners of Home Farm, the renamed Miffeld Hall. Meanwhile, Donald is worried as Clive is to remain in prison until his trial which could be years, and he may be sentenced to ten years.

Nicky and Winn clash when Winn cashes in the compensation cheque in her name and Winn finishes with Nicky. Meanwhile, David reveals the reason he left Beckindale many years ago.

Sam has an outburst at dinner, leaving the family (except Annie) wondering what's wrong with him. Meanwhile, Winn becomes suspicious and begins to believe Nicky is having an affair.

Nicky and Win discover they are being forced to leave their house as it is being sold. Meanwhile, Annie pays David a visit to clear the air

Nicky is desperate to leave the farming life and tries to lie his way out of it. Meanwhile, Sam is livid when he bumps into David and an argument is inevitable.

Nicky warns Pru off Joe, whilst Sam remains sour over David's return and snipes at Annie. Dolly and Annie have a heart to heart about marriage.

Sam is annoyed that David has arrived in the village, whilst David is shocked to discover Jacob is dead. Meanwhile, worries arise for Winn as someone comes round to discuss their tenancy.

Amos makes a kind gesture to Frankie by refusing to let her pay for staying. Meanwhile, Henry proves that they own the top field but Gerald tells them he wants £10,000.

The Sugdens are delivered a huge blow when Gerald proves that the top field was rented. Meanwhile, Donald is shocked to discover Clive has been arrested in Athens.

Henry's solicitor informs him that they have a very good chance of being awarded the land if they go to court, but it's a costly procedure. Meanwhile, Amos and Henry are shocked to discover Frankie has been involved in a car accident.

The Sugdens try to claim the top field, and Henry hears that Gerald is in a financial fix. Meanwhile, Amos and Henry finally discover what Frankie is bidding on.

Matt and Dolly return from viewing a house to find a surveyor in their top field, having been told it's owned by the Verneys.

Miffield Hall is sold following George's death, whilst Dolly feels useless at the farm. Sam tries to help by suggesting to Joe that they swap houses but gets an earful when Joe snaps, sick of people telling him how to live his life.

Dolly and Matt marry at last. Leonard invites Dolly and Matt on his and Phyllis's honeymoon to the Bahamas but she rejects. Meanwhile, wedding bells ring for Pip and Steve as well, with Steve being allowed out of prison by Alec.

Amos clashes with Phyllis who wants Leonard to give Dolly away. Meanwhile, Mrs. Hawker announces her decision to leave Tom and considers asking Pip to live with her.

Joe snaps and punches Tom following an argument about Pip, causing Tom to fall and break a chair. Meanwhile, Phyllis returns with the news that she has gotten married.

Amos is over the moon to be asked to give Dolly away at the wedding. Tom goes on the warpath after discovering Pip is pregnant and forces her out of the village.

Matt receives a visit from his cousin Polly who he hasn't seen in years. Meanwhile, Polly's husband Alec and Henry take a liking to each other.

Pip returns to the village and stays with Joe. Meanwhile, Mrs. Hawker visits Donald and asks for him to stand up for Steve in court, saying he's not a bad person.

Jessie helps Sam come to terms with his recent discovery, whilst a proper funeral is held for Hannah Elizabeth. Meanwhile, Jessie's heads back to Darlington to teach Phyllis a lesson.

Jessie is fuming when Phyllis begins to claim that she can't afford the reception and decides to go have it out with her. Meanwhile, Sam learns something horrifying about his family's past and asks for it to be kept private.

Donald has found that Hannah Elizabeth Gough married Matthew Pearson in Robblesfield Church in 1800 - Seth notices that Matthew shares Sam's surname. Meanwhile, the villagers discover that the police have arrested Pip and Steve in Liverpool.

Plans begin to get Dolly christened, while the villagers try to find out who the mysterious Hannah Elizabeth is. Also, Antony offers to teach Seth how to read.

Dolly and Jessie lock horns and Dolly declares that she's having nothing other than a white wedding. Meanwhile, on his first day of teaching, Antony and the school children find a skull.

Donald shows new headteacher Antony around the school and introduces him to caretaker Seth. Meanwhile, Phyllis sends Dolly a letter about the wedding arrangements and sends Jessie to go through them with Dolly.

Donald tries to make Paul see that Pam is the reason Pip turned criminal and went on the run. Will believes the same and attacks Pam, hospitalising her.

Ted arrives at the scene and immediately puts two and two together, figuring out that Steve has broken into 3 Demdyke Row and robbed The Woolpack with Pip. Steve takes Sam hostage and escapes when Annie gives him her car, with Ted in pursuit.

Steve and Pip perform an armed robbery at The Woolpack and lock Henry and Amos in the cellar, leaving them in there for the night. Joe finds them hours later and calls the police as Steve and Pip plan to abscond.

Steve breaks into 3 Demdyke Row and steals Joe's shotgun. Meanwhile, Will reveals that Steve and the missing Pip want to marry and believe she has eloped.

Pip refuses to return home and runs away, leaving Donald to break the news to the family. Meanwhile, Sam causes fishing plans to end abruptly when he puts his foot in the pond.

The Coulters cause a disruption outside the church when the parents disallow Pip from attending. Meanwhile, Steve takes an interest in Joe's shotgun..

The Sugdens are relieved to discover that no disease was found in the herd. Meanwhile, Nellie admits she's too old for love, throwing Sam's proposal plans out the window.

Matt and Dolly discuss Matt potentially selling his share, whilst Nellie comforts Sam when the trip goes wrong.

Sam believes he has caught brucellosis from the cows. Also, Sam tells Henry that he'd only move in with Nellie if they marry.

Maurice confides in Donald and Annie about Judy's drink problem. Annie finally manages to get Judy to tell the tragic story of how she began drinking heavily. Meanwhile, Dolly is thrilled to discover she is pregnant.

Annie tries to get Judy to open up, and Henry prevents her from getting drunk in The Woolpack. However, an oblivious Joe asks her out for a drink and they go to The Feathers Country Hotel. Meanwhile, Ed and Geoff sell 50 acres to Emmerdale Farm and use the rest of the land for their farm museum.

Henry decides the plough must go when Geoff reverses into it. Meanwhile, alcoholic Judy makes the mistake of going to The Woolpack. Also, Donald discovers that Geoff and Ed are distant relatives.

The Sugdens are suspicious when Maurice appears to be hiding away his daughter. However, Matt finds Judy drunkely slumped over her steering wheel. Meanwhile, Ed and Geoff Atwill suspect they may be related and get help from Donald.

Ed considers moving back to the village with his wife to try save their relationship. Meanwhile, Amos is unimpressed when Henry's plough causes more problems.

Dolly is disappointed when Ed tries to get more money out of Maurice, however after discovering Maurice's intentions, Ed wonders if he should sell to Maurice. Meanwhile, Amos is over the moon when Ian wants to put The Woolpack in the Good Beer Guide.

Amos spots an opportunity to convince Henry to get rid of the plough when Henry accidentally reverses his car into it. Meanwhile, Dolly becomes interested in the Hathersage Farm farmhouse and is relieved when Maurice is uninterested, but is shocked when Maurice makes an offer later on.

Amos is annoyed when Henry's plough proves to be a hit with the regulars. Meanwhile, Donald helps Ed learn about his family. Also, Dolly and Matt receive good news from the specialist.

Joe is furious when Jack calls and expresses his opinion that Emmerdale Farm will end up like NY Estates if they keep expanding. Meanwhile, the stock sale at Hathersage Farm takes place and Amos is curious as to why Henry is desperate to go. Also, Ernie accuses Amos of sending Ian to spy on him.

Dolly is thrilled when Dr. Jacobs calls to notify here that he's gotten her a last minute appointment with the specialist. Meanwhile, Amos is suspicious of a man who tries every beer in The Woolpack twice before leaving.

Jimmy decides to leave the village, but not before talking to Matt about children. Meanwhile, Kitty's departure leaves Dolly thinking about her position on the farm.

Dolly and Sam argue over Jimmy when Dolly overhears Sam make comments about him. Meanwhile, Kitty tells Joe that she's been offered a job in Essex and is leaving to take it.

Jimmy is shocked when Matt reveals that Susan is pregnant, and struggles to adjust to the news. Meanwhile, Henry warns Maurice to be careful with the villagers when Maurice announces his intentions to renovate the NY Estates properties.

Amos's discovery pushes Susan to reveal that Jimmy has served a prison sentence to Seth and Meg - and is surprised to discover Seth already knew. Meanwhile, Susan confides in Dolly that she may be pregnant, and Dolly begins to have fears about having children with Matt.

When Susan reveals that she and Jimmy have had to move with his parents as he was made redundancy, Dolly tries to help out by seeing if she can get Jimmy work on the farm. Meanwhile, Amos makes a shock discovery - Jimmy is an ex-convict.

Meg is suspicious and Seth is furious when Jimmy arrives out of the blue. and both are in for a shock when Meg meets his wife Susan. Meanwhile, Sam helps Amos with an article for the Hotten Courier.

DS Hoskins clears up inconsistencies by getting Terry to go back to the crime scene. It all becomes too much for Terry and he admits the gun went off itself. Meanwhile, Amos is chuffed when he manages to trick the customers into redecorating The Woolpack.

Annie tries to get the Fletchers to admit the truth, however Phil refuses to let her speak to Maggie and Terry guiltily remains loyal to his father. Meanwhile, DSI Hoskins attempts to get the truth and questions Henry and Joe.

Joe is worried that nobody will believe that shooting Phil was an accident, especially when Terry backs up Phil's statement. However, Annie points out that if DSI Hoskins and PC Edwards didn't believe him, he would have been arrested.

Maggie approaches Donald and tries to get him to sort out the feud between Joe and Phil, whilst the feud reaches the climax where a struggle between Joe and Phil results in Phil getting shot - and accusing Joe of shooting him deliberately.

Phil and Joe clash when Phil accuses him of reporting Phil to the RSPCA. Meanwhile, Olwen struggles with Amos at choir practice.

Poor Ocker is let off with a suspended sentence for his role in the barn fire, whilst Smarty doesn't get so lucky. Meanwhile, Donald returns to the village with the news that Clive has been released from prison.

Henry is shocked when Bob reveals that the man killed in the motorcycle accident had just been released from prison for sexual assault. Also, Poor Ocker and Smarty Garret are arrested for starting the Kimber Barn fire.

The man has died from his injuries and PC Edwards is unable to identify him. Meanwhile, Ocker is revealed to have a vascular condition which has been aggravated by the crash, and resolves to fundraise for treatment in America.

Joe and Kitty find the rapist and a chase ensues, with Seth and Amos going into pursuit. However, the chase takes a dark turn when Poor Ocker and Smarty Garret accidentally knock him down on their motorbike.

Cully believes the police are doing nothing about his daughter's rape, so, despite Amos's warning, he takes matters into his own hands.

Colly interrogates Poor Ocker and a fight ensues, stopped by the police. Later, after running into problems with NY Estates, Smarty Garret and Ocker get their own backs by starting a fire.

Joe is horrified to find Wendy in a state after being a victim of rape. Matt and Annie are questioned as they witnessed the attacker. Colly goes on the warpath and hunts down Poor Ocker when he suspects him of being the attacker.

The Farmers' Social takes place and Kitty convinces Joe to stay in Beckindale. Meanwhile, Henry makes amends to Amos and Annie.

Irene lets Henry down gently, whilst Joe and Kitty's moment is interrupted by Simon.

Kitty suffers a knock to the head after hitting her head on the steering wheel when she crashes the tractor. Insistent on being fine, she discharges herself from hospital against the doctor's recommendation. Joe is jealous after believing Kitty is meeting with another man on the day of the Farmer's social.

Joe finds himself becoming restless in Beckindale, and soon after finds Simon and Kitty drinking together. Meanwhile, Henry finds himself interested in Irene.

Dolly is upset when the doctor says that Jessie won't be getting better any time soon. Meanwhile, a fight between Joe and Kitty gives Simon the perfect opportunity to win her over, which he tries.

Simon arrives in the village; taking a liking to Kitty and clashing with Matt. Meanwhile, Matt is infuriated when Joe and Kitty fail to turn up to help him, leaving Annie puzzled...

Eileen gives up on Arthur, whilst Annie is shocked to receive a torrent of abuse via a phone call to Arthur. However, she is more forgiving when Arthur explains that he thought Wilf had rung him back.

Joe discovers that Margaret caused the death of the ewe, and tries to make her pay the price. David tries to get her to return home with him. Meanwhile, Arthur is rushed to hospital after Sam accidentally slams his fingers in the car door.

Eileen is fuming when Maurice blames her for her father's mood, whilst an outburst from Joe angers Margaret, David, Henry and Amos. Also, Arthur discovers a dead sheep at Emmerdale Farm -having choked on litter.

Annie has a talking to an ungrateful Arthur about how much time everyone is spending on helping him. Meanwhile, Arthur's step daughter Eileen arrives and clashes with Arthur before being kicked out.

Sam helps Arthur with his farm, and Arthur is angry when Eric reopens a public footpath on Arthur's land. Meanwhile, Margaret and David go house hunting in the village but have no luck.

Maurice is shocked at the state of Bull Pot Farm and infuriates Arthur when he tells him to fix it up to get out. Meanwhile, Margaret and David arrive in the countryside for a holiday.

Martha takes desperate action about the Tober and Batty feud by assaulting PC Edwards, which works. Meanwhile, Kitty accepts Joe's job offer as a farmhand.

The feud between Batty and Tober escalates further when Neil wants Tober prosecuted, and Tober later blocks the road for Batty with his wheelbarrow. Meanwhile, Kitty asks around about Joe's marital status.

Amos isn't the only one who's annoyed about Batty's driving - Tober feels he's had enough of it and takes some drastic action.

When Annie and Dolly visit Jessie in hospital all seems well - but Jessie has another shock in store for them.

Neil continues to cause fury among the villagers, especially Amos as he narrowly avoids getting knocked down. Meanwhile, Dolly is annoyed that Phyllis can't look after Jessie whilst Matt is forced to keep secrets from her when a cow and calf die from heart failure.

NY Estates foreman Neil causes controversy among the villagers when they catch him speeding across the village. Meanwhile, Dolly blames herself over Jessie's condition and worries who will look after her.

Jessie's collapse is revealed to have been caused by heart problems, whilst Len struggles to find work as Florrie struggles to occupy her free time.

Jessie returns to Darlington but Dolly is horrified to be informed that Jessie is in hospital after collapsing. Meanwhile, Amos receives grief from Sam about his wrote up of the pantomime.

Henry gives Maurice a piece of his mind, and Len is determined to give Donald a piece of his mind. Meanwhile, Jessie is desperate to return home but a visit from the doctor stops her in her path.

Florrie returns to working for Donald but this angers Len, and Donald is shocked to discover Len has been made redundant. Meanwhile, Jessie's stay in Beckindale ends abruptly when she is taken ill.

Christmas in Beckindale - and as Dolly's Nativity play gets underway, Amos prepares his surprise for The Woolpack. Joe has a sprained shoulder and bruises following the robbery. Sandie passes the news on to him that she believes Tom was responsible.

Tom and Derek arrange another theft of the Home Farm Christmas tree plantation, but things go disastrously wrong when they end up running Joe over in their effort to drive away.

Amos is not a man to be daunted by humiliation - but even Henry is surprised by the way he bounces back.

An unexpected visitor arrives at The Woolpack - and threatens to undermine Amos's professional dignity. Tom makes an effort to apologise to Pat for his outburst the other night, but they soon fall out when he insults her over her relationship with Jack.

Tom tries to reconcile with Pat but Pat makes clear he is not wanted. Meanwhile, Amos is rightfully suspicious of a customer. Later, Joe discovers some trees have been stolen overnight.

The villagers are in for a shock when Tom makes a sudden return, especially for the Merricks when Tom turns up at their caravan uninvited. Meanwhile, Padraic tells Donald that he wants him to take over his job on the Hotten Council of Churches.

The villagers are getting ready for the Allotments Bonfire and Dance - but there's more trouble in store for Joe when a friend of Angie's gatecrashes the event and pulls them apart on the dancefloor. The two are soon scrapping on the floor leading to more shame for Annie. Seth tries to persuade his wife Meg to give her savings to him for safe keeping - she is not fooled.

When there's an argument in the family, it's up to Annie to smooth things over. Meanwhile, Amos has more family troubles of his own.

Someone has been spreading rumours about Joe and his new neighbour - and Annie has an idea who's responsible.

Joe is only obeying orders by taking out the hedge at Ridge Farm, but how will Jack react to the news?

Seth's preparations for the Allotments Ball are underway and he seems determined to set the whole village to work.

Henry is expecting a visit from his cousin - and Amos is far from pleased.

Joe's plans for the beef herd are fiercely opposed at Ridge Farm - and John takes advantage of the unrest.

Jack's friendship with Pat continues; but he still doesn't see eye to eye with Jackie and Sandie.

Amos's strange behaviour causes Henry some concern and he's in for a shock when Seth investigates! Seth spies on Amos that night and sees him meet a woman in a car. Seth is amazed.

Joe is settling in to his new job with NY Estates but there is tension among the workers at Ridge Farm. John has money worries, and gets slightly drunk in The Woolpack. He comes back from work half an hour late and almost causes an accident on a tractor. Joe sends John home

Richard won't wait any longer for Joe to reach a decision and Annie senses what that decision will be.

Who has been trespassing at Hathersage Farm? Sam solves the mystery - but creates other problems into the bargain.

Sam continues to demonstrate his artistic talents to the village - but at least one person in Beckindale isn't so easily impressed.

With the evenings getting longer, Annie thinks of a quiet hobby for Sam; but he seems determined to let it disrupt the whole village!

Joe sees a man letting his dog run loose on Emmerdale Farm land when there are lambs in the nearby field. Joe tells the man off until he realises it is Edward Ruskin, the old village vicar. Joe is pleased. Ruskin is standing in for Hinton while he is away. Seth bangs on the door of his house, demanding Meg answers the door. The neighbours are watching.

Donald offers Seth guidance over his matrimonial problems - but Seth doesn't take the advice very easily! Seth is spending all his time at The Woolpack. Meg goes to the Woolpack to tell Seth to come home. He refuses. She says she will lock him out. He says he has a key but she says she will bolt the doors.

Seth is horrified when Meg threatens to leave him if he doesn't quit drinking, and Seth is annoyed that her thoughts come from Donald. Meanwhile, Joe vents to Barbara about Alan's inability to own up to his mistakes.

Samuel is christened and all goes well, except for Amos. Meanwhile, Donald and Annie are infuriated to hear about Joe and Barbara's relationship so soon after the breakdown of Barbara's marriage.

Barbara is upset when Brian confirms their marriage is over but finds herself in Joe's arms. Meanwhile, Jessie returns for Samuel's christening, whilst Alan blames Joe for the cattle situation.

Donald is horrified to discover his daughter had an affair five years ago, whilst Alan's attempts at taking shortcuts lead to disaster when the driver is threatened with prosecution.

Is Joe seeing too much of Barbara? Sam thinks he might be.

Barbara's husband Brian is in Beckindale - and Donald is sure it's not too late to save their marriage.

Jack is relieved to learn the rustler will make a full recovery and is in the clear. The rest of the villagers are thrilled to learn the rustlers have been charged, however Barbara is furious to learn Brian is coming to Beckindale.

Jack finally catches the rustlers and goes for them with his shotgun, but when the rustler begins attacking Jack, Jack takes drastic action and hits the rustler over the head with a rock, leaving him unconscious. Meanwhile, Amos becomes suspicious over Joe and Barbara and suspects there may be something between them.

Joe rejoins his family for Christmas, and as they celebrate and enjoy the village show, Jack is conspicuous by his absence.
